Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Shiraz McLaren Vale

Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Shiraz is a red wine produced by the renowned Australian winery Wirra Wirra. This wine is a single-varietal Shiraz, meaning it is made exclusively from the Shiraz grape, also known as Syrah. Shiraz from the McLaren Vale region, where Wirra Wirra is located, is known for its powerful and full-bodied character, with rich dark fruit flavors and a vibrant spiciness.

Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Shiraz McLaren Vale is deep purple in color with ruby hues. Surprising nose of aniseed, cloves, vanilla, raspberries, blueberries, mulberries and violets. The subtle wood is well integrated. On the palate, the wine is intensely fruity and fleshy, with aromas of plums and red berries. The acidity and the elegant tannins provide an excellent balance. Fresh and persistent finish.

This wine is made from a sophisticated regional grape blend with sub-regional characteristics. The three grape varieties are vinified separately and aged for 12 months in French and or American oak barriques. The assembly of the young wines takes place after the ageing.

This Shiraz is an excellent choice for lovers of powerful and tasty red wines.

Wine - Food pairing

Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise Shiraz is a wine that can be well chilled, but it is best enjoyed at room temperature. It is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat dishes, such as steaks, lamb chops and barbecue dishes. It also goes well with savory stews and spicy dishes.

Wirra Wirra Vineyards

The Aboriginal name 'Wirra Wirra' means 'among the gum trees'. Founder Bob Wigley's wines, especially from the Syrah grape, were very popular in London. The wines have been exported around the world for over 100 years. In 1936 most of the vineyards were sold by the family and the wine cellars fell into disuse. In 1969, Greg and Roger Trott bought the dilapidated winery and some surrounding land. The two first cousins brought their own vineyards into the new company and started making wine, aided by the local wine producers.

McLaren Vale is located in the state of South Australia, a 45-minute drive from the capital Adelaide. It is famous as a culinary paradise full of tasty culinary specialties and great wines. The Mediterranean climate is tempered by the proximity of the Saint Vincent gulf. The summers are warm and the winters are moderate. Precipitation (580-700 mm per year) mainly falls in winter. During the warm season, humidity is low and evaporation is high. Little or no chance of frost during the growing period or rain during harvest. Depending on the type of soil and location, we work without irrigation or with drip irrigation. Wirra Wirra Winery has its own dam and water recycling installation. The vineyards work biodynamically.
