Spanish wines

Spain is a country with a long history of winemaking and is known for producing a wide variety of high quality wines. Spanish wines are characterized by their bold flavours, regional diversity and excellent value for money.

The largest wine regions are Rioja, Rueda and Ribera del Duero. Rioja stretches along the banks of the river Ebro and stands for pure quality. It was the very first Spanish wine region to obtain DOC (denominación de origen calificada) status. Rueda mainly produces white wines such as the fresh Verdejo and in the heart of northern Spain you will find the Ribera del Duero wine region. The vineyards here extend into the valley along the banks of the River Duero and the most commonly grown grape is Tempranillo. The basis of the better Spanish wines.
