Santa Marta

Bodegas Santa Marta

Bodegas Santa Marta is a family business founded in 1998 in the Spanish wine region Valdeorras. The company is run by the third generation of the Rodríguez family, with María Jesús Álvarez Rodríguez as winemaker.

Santa Marta has 12 hectares of its own vineyards, supplemented with grapes from another 18 hectares that are cultivated under the management of the bodega. The grape varieties grown in Valdeorras are typical of this area: the blue Mencía and the white Godello. Santa Marta also makes wine from Tempranillo and the endangered Sousón, among others.

The Santa Marta vineyards are located at an average altitude of 500 meters, with relatively large differences in day and night temperatures. This ensures ideal ripening of the grapes. The slate in the soil drains water well and retains heat, which is also beneficial for the grapes.

The wines of Bodegas Santa Marta are characterized by their purity and freshness. The red wines are fruity and elegant, while the white wines are refined and aromatic.
