Bodegas Pinord is a family-owned winery located in Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues, in the heart of the Penedès region of Catalonia, Spain. The winery was founded in 1942 by the Tetas family, and it has remained in the family ever since. Today, the winery is run by the third and fourth generations of the family.
Bodegas Pinord produces a wide range of wines, including red, white, and rosé wines, as well as cavas (sparkling wines). The winery is known for its commitment to sustainable and organic winemaking practices. In fact, Bodegas Pinord was one of the first wineries in Spain to be certified organic, back in 1985.
The winery owns over 150 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with a variety of grape varietals, including Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Xarel·lo. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250-400 meters and are planted on soils that are rich in limestone and clay.
One of the most popular wines produced by Bodegas Pinord is the Clos de Torribas, a red wine made from a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes. This wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months and is known for its aromas of ripe red fruit, spices, and vanilla, as well as its full-bodied and well-structured palate.
Bodegas Pinord also produces a range of other wines, including the Gallina de Piel, a red wine made from old-vine Garnacha grapes, and the Xarel·lo L'Agutzil, a white wine made from the Xarel·lo grape varietal. These wines are all made with the same dedication to quality and sustainability that is a hallmark of Bodegas Pinord.
