Pounamu

Pounamu

Pounamu is one of three brands that New Zealand winemaker Fleur McCree, who owns vineyards in the wine district of Marlborough, has been using for several years. Marlborough is located in the northeast of the South Island, west of the city of Wellington. That it is an area with ideal conditions for viticulture is apparent from the success that the white Sauvignon Blanc wines from Marlborough have in particular.

The start

Fleur McCree and her partner Mark Duns started in 2002 when they found an old sheep farm in the Waihopai Valley with 40 hectares of land that turned out to be ideal for viticulture. Since then, Fleur McCree, with sustainability as a top priority and with the help of the renowned oenologist Eveline Fraser, has been working very convincingly in terms of quality and innovation. The result is the wines Pounamu Sauvignon Blanc and Pounamu Pinot Noir.
