Domaine des Pothiers

Domaine des Pothiers is a family-owned winery located in the Loire Valley wine region of France. The domaine is situated in the Côte Roannaise appellation, a small area in the Loire Valley known for its distinctive red wines made from the Gamay grape variety. The domaine was founded in the 1970s by Jean-Pierre Large, who was one of the first winemakers to believe in the potential of the Côte Roannaise. Today, his son Romain Large manages the estate with a focus on sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking practices.

The domaine owns 15 hectares of vineyards, which are planted on steep, south-facing slopes of granite and volcanic soils. The vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic, and the wines are made with minimal intervention in the cellar. The flagship wine of the domaine is the Côte Roannaise Vieilles Vignes, which is made from old vines and aged in oak barrels to add complexity and depth to the wine. Other wines produced by the domaine include a lighter-style rosé, a fresh and fruity Gamay, and a sparkling rosé made using the traditional method.
