Located in the heart of the Médoc, Moulis-en-Médoc is a wine region with a rich history and a unique identity. This appellation, founded in 1938, is one of the oldest communal appellations in the Médoc. The soil in Moulis is special, with a mix of deep gravel and clay-limestone, which gives the wines a complex and refined taste.
The wines of Moulis-en-Médoc are mainly red and are made from classic grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. These wines are distinguished by their deep ruby red colour, their aromas of red fruit (cherry, blackcurrant), spices and wood. In the mouth they are soft and round, with fine tannins and a long finish.
Compared to wines from other Médoc appellations, Moulis wines have a softer, fruitier style. They are often ready to drink young, but can also be stored well. This specific style comes from the Moulis soil, which ensures that the grapes ripen earlier and the wines have a fuller, more accessible taste.
