Juliénas

The Juliénas Cru extends over four communes, mainly in the Rhône and a small part in the Saône-et-Loire, and benefits from excellent sun exposure. The average altitude varies, starting at 230 meters and reaching 430 meters in the far northwest.

The AOC certainly has one of the most diverse soils in Beaujolais: schist, diorite and sandstone, but also clay.

Julienas wines grow on the southern and southeastern slopes of Mont du Bessay, which has a wealth of different terroirs. This hill is divided into zones of granite, sedimentary and “rotten rock” soils, which allows this Beaujolais crus to be stored for several years without loss of quality.
