Sophenia

Finca Sophenia

Bodegas Sophenia is a family-owned winery located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Argentina. The winery was founded in 1997 by Roberto Luka, a businessman with a passion for wine, and Gustavo Benvenuto, an experienced winemaker. Their vision was to create high-quality wines that expressed the unique terroir of the Uco Valley.

Sophenia has over 130 hectares of vineyards located at an altitude of between 1,200 and 1,500 meters above sea level. The vineyards are planted with a variety of grapes, including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The cool climate and high altitude of the Uco Valley provide excellent conditions for grape growing, resulting in wines that are elegant and complex.

Sophenia produces a range of wines, including varietal wines, blends, and single-vineyard wines. Their signature wine is the Synthesis Malbec, a blend of Malbec from two different vineyards that showcases the complexity and depth of the Uco Valley. Other notable wines include the Sophenia Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, the Sophenia Altosur Malbec, and the Sophenia Estate Sauvignon Blanc.

The winery is committed to sustainable practices in both the vineyard and the winery. They use cover crops to improve soil health, and they employ organic and biodynamic practices to reduce the use of chemicals. In the winery, they use gravity flow to move the wine, reducing the need for pumps and minimizing the impact on the wine.

Overall, Bodegas Sophenia is a producer of high-quality wines that express the unique terroir of the Uco Valley. With a commitment to sustainable practices and a focus on quality, their wines are an excellent representation of the potential of Argentine wine.
