The Beaujolais AOC is a regional appellation whose production zone covers all 72 communes of the Beaujolais vineyards, making it the largest of the Beaujolais AOCs. It is located mainly in the south of the vineyard, between Arbresle and Belleville, and also includes some plots along the eastern slopes of Beaujolais Crus, almost to Saint-Amour.
More than 300 hectares are dedicated to the production of white wines from the AOC Beaujolais.
The Chardonnay plots are mainly located in the far north and south, around the municipalities of Liergues, Le Bois d'Oingt and Bully.
The Beaujolais appellation was officially created in 1937. And since then, the appellation has been known to everyone, both French and foreign consumers, especially thanks to the Beaujolais Primeur wines. Tasty and always surprising, wines with the AOC Beaujolais label often ignite passions and spark discussions.
