Weinbach MVO Orange Wine Gewurztraminer Pinot Gris
Weinbach MVO Orange Wine Gewurztraminer Pinot Gris is light orange-yellow in color. On the nose aromas of pink grapefruit, tangerine peel apricots, ripe pear and wild roses. In the taste palette notes of verbena, yellow stone fruit, lemongrass, rosehips and a subtle hint of ginger and quinine, which are accompanied by a long, slightly dry, mineral finish with soft acidity. The MFO grapes come from the grand cru vineyard Furstentum.
The bunches of grapes are picked by hand very selectively at optimal ripeness. In the vinification cellar, after very light bruising, but intact, the bunches are allowed to undergo a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in a large oak cask with wild (grape-like) yeasts. This is followed by pressing and the young wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation and a maturation period on the groin. After about eight months, this "orange wine" is assembled and bottled without clarification, filtering or addition of sulfur. This entire process takes place completely without any addition whatsoever, entirely according to strict biodynamic rules and regulations.
