Tenuta di Sesta Rosso di Montalcino is an organic red wine produced by the winery of the same name in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. It is a well-known style of wine from the Montalcino region, considered a "little brother" of the famous Brunello di Montalcino.
Rosso di Montalcino is made from the same grape variety, Sangiovese Grosso (also known as Brunello), used for Brunello di Montalcino. The main difference between the two wines is in the aging time. While Brunello di Montalcino requires a longer aging period of at least four years, of which two years in wooden barrels, Rosso di Montalcino is only aged for about one year, part of which is in wooden barrels.
Thanks to this shorter maturation time, Rosso di Montalcino is a more accessible and affordable wine than Brunello di Montalcino. However, it still retains the signature style and elegance of the Sangiovese grape, with aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, spices and floral notes.
