Sylvain Loichet Nuits-St-Georges Les Grandes Vignes is a powerful and complex Burgundy. This wine has aromas of fresh red fruit followed by light mint notes and spices. In the mouth the red fruit returns along with black currant and currant. The oak is present but remains discreet and gives the wine a soft, slightly creamy aftertaste.
The vineyards for this Nuits-St-Georges 'les Grandes Vignes' are located next to the Premier Cru 'Clos des Grandes Vignes' on red clay soils with limestone. The vines are between 20 and 50 years old and are located on low slopes facing east. After the grapes are harvested manually, the grapes are transferred into tapered oak barrels. Here a cold maceration is carried out for a week after which the fermentation starts naturally. After pressing, the wines are aged in oak barrels, 30% of which are new oak. After maturation, the wines are bottled by gravity without clarification or filtration.
