Sylvain Loichet Côte de Nuits-Villages Aux Montagnes, has classic and understated aromas with a telling medley of plum dark cherries, and crisp autumn leaves and violets. We detect just a little bit of pepper to add a touch of spiciness to the wine. Power, drive and minerality, together with the attractive savory character and fine tannins make for a beautiful Bourgogne Rouge.
This Cote de Nuits-Villages "Aux Montagnes" comes from a plot of vines of one hectare located at the top of the village of Comblanchien, on a very stony and steep slope, not far from the quarries of "French Carrara". The grapes undergo a one week cold maceration and then a three week fermentation in wooden barrels. The aging for 24 months in 1 to 4 year old French oak barrels provides the final polish. The wine is bottled without filtration to keep its full character intact.
