Stepp Dornfelder is a powerful and fruity red wine from the Palatinate wine region in Germany. The wine is produced by the Gerd Stepp winery, which has been making wine in Neustadt an der Weinstraße since 1980.
The grapes for this wine are grown on calcareous soils in the Stepp vineyards in the Palatinate. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected for optimal ripeness. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine matures on the lees for 6 months.
The nose of the Stepp Dornfelder unfolds aromas of red fruit, such as cherries, plums and raspberries, with hints of vanilla, chocolate and toast. The taste is powerful and fruity, with ripe fruit, soft tannins and a long, persistent aftertaste.
