Salentein Brut Cuvée Exceptionnelle Sparkling is a delicious sparkling Argentinian wine from Salentein.
From the vineyards of El Oasis Estate, in Alto Valle de Uco, 1100 meters above sea level in the high Uco Valley region. The vineyards benefit from the sunny weather during the day and the cooling from the Andes at night. Alto Valle de Uco is the best wine region in the great Mendoza area.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested in the 2nd week of February and the Pinot Noir on the first day of March. The wines are made separately, but according to the same protective techniques. Must is transferred to tanks to start alcoholic fermentation. The wine remains in contact with the lees for several weeks. The Cuvée is essential to determine the style of each sparkling wine. In the case of Salentein, it is a 'Cuvée Spéciale', made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from specially selected plots in El Oasis. The 2nd fermentation is done according to the Charmat method. Low temperatures (13-18 degrees) with selected yeast and for 20-30 days. The dregs from the 2nd fermentation remain in the tank to start the 'sur lie' maturation process. That takes 6 months.
Clear golden yellow wine with a typical and attractive shine of Pinot Noir. Aromas of green apple and citrus fruit with a hint of toasted bread. A pleasant, fruity taste with fine, persistent bubbles. Harmonious and well balanced. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to serve an accessible and at the same time elegant top-class sparkling wine.
Nice wine as aperitif or in combination with Asian dishes.
