René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole

Marsannay Le Clos Monopole is clear, light straw yellow in colour. In its deep and subtle aromas and bouquet you will find fresh menthol notes, pepper, acacia, pear, peach, curry and truffles.

Le Clos is a 3-hectare monopolis owned by Bouvier south of the Marsannay appellation, in the village of Couchey, behind the Château. The perfect terroir for white wines, this gently sloping east-facing plot is mainly marl, with some more stony areas.

The grapes from these 40-year-old vines are harvested over several days, depending on their maturity and location in Le Clos. The grapes are then sorted and only the best grapes from the oldest vines are taken for the cuvée. The marly surface gives strength to the wine and the harvesting on different dates gives extra complexity. This is why the Marsannay Le Clos Monopole has a clearly asserted identity, with mature body, beautiful viscosity that envelops the palate, and strong minerality that structures the mouthfeel, with a mouth-watering long finish.

Wine - Food pairing

It is a perfect wine to pair with fish dishes, poultry and soft cheeses.

Domaine René Bouvier

The family business Domaine René Bouvier owns 30 hectares of vines all in the Côte de Nuits. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, the estate has been managed by Bernard Bouvier since 1992. The winery produces an assortment of 26 different wines, ranging from the Bourgogne appellation to the most famous Grand Cru wines: Charmes-Chambertin and Echezeaux.

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, with 23 hectares producing red wines and 7 hectares producing white wines, including Marsannay Le Clos, a monopole (a vineyard owned by only one vintner).

The estate's vineyards stretch from the ancient terroirs (a combination of soil, slope, exposure, climate and human expertise) of the Dukes of Burgundy, near Dijon, to the well-known wine-producing village of Vosne-Romanée.
