Quinta dos Murças VV47 is an exceptional wine from the Douro Valley, produced by the prestigious winery Quinta dos Murças. The name VV47 stands for "Vinhas Velhas 1947", referring to the old vines planted in 1947. Located on steep terraces along the Douro River, these vines produce low yields but high quality, adding to the complexity and depth of the wine.

This wine is a blend of several native Portuguese grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Francisca, and Tinta Cão. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in traditional granite lagares with foot steps, followed by maturation in French oak barrels for 12 months. This process creates a wine with a rich structure and refined aromas.

Quinta dos Murças VV47 has a deep ruby red color and offers a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, floral notes, and hints of spices and minerals on the nose. On the palate the wine is full and powerful, with concentrated flavors of berries, herbs and a hint of chocolate. The tannins are firm but silky soft, and the finish is long and elegant with a mineral freshness.
