Penley Estate Project E Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is beautifully fragrant, fresh and vibrant. This is a soft expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherries, plum, licorice and a layer of dried herbs fill the nose with aromas. The taste is finely structured and intense in taste. The texture of the tannins envelops a core of purple fruit and dark chocolate.
The Project wines are a big part of Penley Estate's wine ideology. They are an opportunity to push boundaries and create something new. Penley Estate is therefore the first winery in Coonawarra to use a concrete egg! The end result is otherworldly. The wine: a Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in a concrete egg, to be in contact with the skin for so long, 201 days to be exact. The concept of a concrete egg dates back to the 1900s and was inspired by the use of Roman amphora in the late 2nd century BC. The old technology, in a new format.

Penley Estate
Penley Estate is an Australian winery based in Coonawarra, a renowned wine region in South Australia. The winery was founded by Kym Tolley, a member of a family with a long history in viticulture, in 1988.

The area has a special terroir with a special soil called "terra rossa," an iron-rich, limestone-like clay soil that is ideal for viticulture. This gives the wines from Coonawarra their distinctive character and complexity.
