Mottura Primitivo di Manduria Stilio is a special variant of the Primitivo di Manduria wine, produced by Mottura Vini del Salento in the region of Manduria, Puglia, Italy.

Like other Primitivo di Manduria wines, Mottura Primitivo di Manduria Stilio is made from the Primitivo grape, known for its rich and fruity character. The Primitivo grape thrives in the Mediterranean climate and calcareous soils of Manduria, resulting in high quality grapes.

Mottura Primitivo di Manduria Stilio has a deep red color with purple reflections. In the nose intense aromas of jam made from red fruits, morello cherries and dried plum. The tertiary scents are of vanilla and clove. In the mouth velvety, full and harmonious.

The Primitivo grapes come from different municipalities in the province of Taranto. The terroir consists of calcareous clay. Winters here are moderate and springs and summers very dry. The grapes are strictly selected and come from vineyards with a low yield. Part of the grapes are crushed on the plant for the production of Stilio and undergo a light drying. This allows the aromas to be concentrated before harvesting due to the resulting water loss of about 20 to 30%. After harvesting follows a traditional maceration for 10 to 12 days and fermentation under controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Part of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels of 1 and 2 years old. Finally, the wine matures in the bottle for another 2 to 3 months.

Mottura Primitivo di Manduria Stilio is an excellent wine to pair with a wide variety of dishes. It goes well with grilled meats, stews, rich pastas, matured cheeses and other Mediterranean dishes.
