Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot grapes and is made by the same team of winemakers as the Grand Vin. The wine is aged for 60% in new oak, while the remaining 40% is aged for 18 months in used barrels.
This Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a full-bodied wine with powerful tannins and a fine structure. The nose is complex and fruity, with notes of blackberries and blackcurrants and a hint of caramel. Delicious to drink now, but will get even better in the next 10 years.
Delicious with chicken with morels & truffle sauce, Cote de Boeuf with pepper gravy or game stew.
Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a delicious French Bordeaux wine from winery Château Pichon Baron Longueville from France. This wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes.
Recommended serving temperature between 16 ° C and 18 ° C.
Château Pichon Baron Longueville has a rich history. Until the middle of the 19th century, the Château formed one wine estate with Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. The reason for the split was that the then owner, Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville, divides the estate among his 5 children (2 sons and 3 daughters). One of his daughters, Virginie, decides to manage the parts of her two sisters in addition to her own part of the winery. In the end, the children decide to split up the winery, the inherited part of the 2 brothers is separated from the inherited part of the 3 daughters.
The result is two Châteaux, named Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande & Château Pichon-Longueville Baron.
In 1855, both Châteaux are classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé.
