Domaine Les Bertrand is a family business that has been making wine in the Beaujolais wine region of France for generations. Yann Bertrand, the current winemaker, is passionate about the Gamay grape and strives to create wines that reflect the pure expression of this grape and the terroir of Beaujolais.

Julienas is one of the ten crus of Beaujolais, and is known for its elegant and spicy red wines.

The grapes for Pur Ju come from a 1-hectare plot of 45-year-old vines. They are harvested by hand in September. After a strict selection, the intact bunches are given a cold soak. The bunches are then subjected to temperature-controlled (10 to 12°C) alcoholic fermentation with wild yeasts in a closed concrete tank. After approximately 18 days, the wine is pressed and the young wine is transferred to old oak barriques for malolactic fermentation and maturation. After 8 months, the wine is bottled unfiltered without the addition of sulfur. This entire process takes place according to biodynamic regulations.

Les Bertrand Julienas Pur Ju is bright, deep ruby red in color. In the nose aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, cherries and lilies. The taste palette shows notes of ripe small red fruit, some cinnamon and a smoky touch, which are accompanied by elegant tannins and fresh acidity in the aftertaste.

Julienas Pur Ju is a perfect wine to serve with dishes such as red meat, grilled vegetables and cheese. It is also a great wine to drink as an aperitif or on a festive occasion.
