Le Grand Verdus Mondet Cabernet Franc is beautifully smooth and elegant. This "lieu dit" from Lignan in Bordeaux is therefore loaded with charm and finesse, soft bright raspberry-like fruit, some cassis and aromas of violet and mint, some tannin and a silky texture.
Mondet is a "lieu-dit", so a single vineyard wine where a clear presence of limestone rocks of the same kind as those found in Saint-Emilion is found. Cabernet-Franc, one of the oldest local Bordeaux varieties, feels right at home here.
Aging: 12 months in 400 liter oak barrels.
Gourmet wine goes well with a piece of beef, a roast pig or just a cheese!
Le Grand Verdus Mondet Cabernet Franc is a delicious red wine from the Bordeaux region of France. This wine is made from Cabernet Franc grapes by Château Le Grand Verdus.
Recommended wine temperature between 14°C and 16°C.
Set in the heart of the hilly countryside in the AOC Bordeaux Supérieur area are the vineyards of Château Le Grand Verdus. The stately estate, with its 16th-century Renaissance residence, has been owned by the Le Grix de la Salle family since 1810. A traditional family. For many generations they have passed on the art of winemaking from father to son. At the moment, the fourth generation of winemakers is at the helm of Château Le Grand Verdus: Antoine and Thomas Le Grix de la Salle.
The vineyards have a unique terroir and microclimate and benefit from the special composition of the landscape around Bordeaux. The enormous variations in height create a patchwork of different soil types, from limestone to clay and gravel. All these soil types contribute to the unique character of the wines of Château Le Grand Verdus.
