The second wine of Château Grand Puy Lacoste, 5th Grand Cru Classé, is Lacoste-Borie. Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc grapes and is made by the same team of winemakers as the Grand Vin. The wine is aged for 16 months in French oak, of which 45% is new.
The Lacoste-Borie has beautiful, full and powerful fruit of black currant, plum and cherry in the scent. The taste is powerful, with subdued wood and vanilla notes. In addition, the wood aging gives a hint of mint to the wine. The finish is long, harmonious and complex.
Lamb chops with mint sauce, game dishes, spicy cheeses.
Lacoste-Borie is a delicious French Bordeaux wine from winery Château Grand Puy Lacoste from France. This wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes.
Recommended serving temperature between 16 ° C and 18 ° C.
Château Grand Puy Lacoste was built in 1855 by Pierre-Fréderic Lacoste. The château, located in Pauillac, owes its name to the magnificent location of the vineyards on a pebble hill (Le Puy) and the former owners: the Lacoste family. From 1932 to 1978, the château belonged to Raymond Dupin, a wealthy merchant, who restored the château's reputation. Since 1978, the Borie family, also owners of Château Haut Batailley (5th Grand Cru Classé) and Château Ducru-Beaucaillou (2nd Grand Cru Classé) have been in charge. Jean-Eugène Borie and his son François-Xavier have made huge investments to improve and modernize the domain. As a result, this “sleeping beauty” was shaken awake. Today, the domain is highly regarded and Château Grand Puy Lacoste is often feared by the big names from Pauillac in blind tastings.
