iLauri Poggio Dragone Rosso Terre di Chieti has a clear, translucent purple-red color. In the nose aromas of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries and some spices. In the taste palette notes of juicy ripe small red-black fruit with a light spiciness, which are accompanied in the aftertaste by soft tannins and mild acidity.
At the beginning of September, the grapes are harvested by hand, after which a temperature-controlled (28°C) alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for two weeks in the vinification cellar, after de-stalking and light crushing of the grapes. Subsequently, the grapes are pressed and the young wine is transferred to oak 3400 liter barrels of Slovenian oak to allow malolactic fermentation to take place, followed by a three-month maturation. In the spring after the harvest, the wine is assembled and bottled after a light filtering.
