Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett has a bright straw yellow color. In the nose aromas of citrus fruit, peach, pear and some honey. In the taste palette notes of candied lime, yellow stone fruit, minerals and a hint of mint, which are accompanied in the aftertaste by a clear residual sweetness that somewhat masks the nervous acidity.
The grapes are picked by hand with the greatest care, with a very strict selection. In the vinification cellar there is first a few hours of soaking time, after which, after pressing the grapes, the alcoholic fermentation with wild (grape's own) yeasts and maturation takes place partly in wood and partly in stainless steel tanks. In the spring following the harvest, the wine is assembled and bottled.
In Germany, Fritz Haag is one of the superstars, with a fantastic collection of Riesling wines of exceptional class. Since early 2005, the young Oliver Haag has been at the helm. Like his father Wilhelm, he focuses on producing refined, fruity, delicate Mosel Riesling with a very recognizable style. Weingut Fritz Haag is especially famous for the Riesling wines from two top wine estates, the Brauneberger Juffer and the Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr. The vineyards are planted on steep to very steep (80%!) slopes with a soil of weathered, almost greasy slate from the Devon era. This soil type and the prevailing microclimate give the Riesling wines extra character, minerality and a long aging potential. Riesling at its very best!
This is an ideal wine as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to veal with mushrooms, chicken with lemon confit, dessert of fresh ripe fruit, not too sweet pastries and elegant blue cheeses.
