Lorcher Krone is an iconic vineyard in the rugged extreme west of the Rheingau. This vineyard is known for its steep slopes and slate soils, which contribute to the distinctive character of the Riesling produced there. A true 'Steillage' with a slope of 50%, well protected by forest and rocky outcrops. Although the vineyard catches a lot of sun, there is also sufficient cooling due to cold wind from the Taunus mountains above.
This is a large, complex wine full of quince, pear, mirabelles and spices, very intense and elegant. Due to the bottom of slate (schiefer) and quartz, an impressive and fine acid play in the immense aftertaste.
