Dr. Loosen Riesling Beerenauslese is a luscious and sweet dessert wine produced by the renowned Dr. Loosen in the German Moselle region. Beerenauslese, meaning "berry selection" in German, is a classification for wines made from individually selected, overripe grapes affected by noble rot (botrytis cinerea).
For the production of Beerenauslese wines, the Riesling grapes are left on the vine for an extended period of time to mature, allowing them to concentrate sugars, flavors and natural acidity. As the grapes develop noble rot, the fungus pierces the skin, causing dryness and enhancing the sweetness and complexity of the grapes.
