Dominus Othello
Dominus Othello, a Californian red wine, is particularly refined, juicy and spicy. The wine is very well balanced, the aftertaste is long and polished.
2 weeks before harvest, the grapes are rinsed with water. After manual picking, which involves strict selection, the grapes are vinified separately per plot. After a short cold soak to obtain more color and aromas, the grapes are crushed and the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation with wild (grape's own) yeasts in stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks. After 20 days, pressing takes place and the young wines are assembled and transferred to French oak barriques, 20% of which are new, to undergo malolactic fermentation and a maturing period. After 18 months, another assembly takes place and the wine is bottled unfiltered. Napanook is the second wine from Dominus Estate and has been made with the same drive and perfectionism since 1996. Napanook receives remarkably good reviews and high ratings, especially for a second wine.

Dominus Estate
Dominus Estate, Yountville, California, was established in 1983 by Christian Moueix. Situated on the famed Napanook vineyard, it was, in the 1940’s and 1950’s, the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines. In fact, the vineyard’s history can be traced back to Napa Valley’s beginnings, when in 1838 George Yount, for whom the town of Yountville was named, first planted grapevines there. Today, this historic vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, its flagship, Napanook, and Othello.
Christian Moueix chose the name ‘Dominus’ (‘lord of the estate’ in Latin) to underscore his longstanding commitment to the land. Rooted in values of quality, stewardship, tradition and innovation, the Dominus Estate team shares a vision of producing distinctive wines that are expressive of this singular terroir.
