Dominus Napanook
Dominus Napanook, a California red wine from Napa Valley, offers a bouquet of lavender, cedar, ripe plums and savory earthiness supported by a structure of bright and vibrant tannins. With his own distinct personality, Napanook presents a bold and vibrant character.
2 weeks before the harvest, the grapes are sprayed with water. After manual picking, with strict selection, the grapes are vinified separately per plot. After a short cold maceration to obtain more color and aromas, the grapes are crushed and the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation with wild (grape own) yeasts in stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks. After 20 days, pressing follows and the young wines are assembled and transferred to French oak barriques, 20% of which are new, to undergo malolactic fermentation and a maturation period. After 18 months, another assembly follows and the wine is bottled unfiltered. Napanook is the second wine from Dominus Estate and has been made since 1996 with the same passion and perfectionism. Napanook therefore receives remarkably good reviews and high ratings, especially for a second wine.

Dominus Estate
Dominus Estate, Yountville, California, was established in 1983 by Christian Moueix. Situated on the famed Napanook vineyard, it was, in the 1940’s and 1950’s, the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines. In fact, the vineyard’s history can be traced back to Napa Valley’s beginnings, when in 1838 George Yount, for whom the town of Yountville was named, first planted grapevines there. Today, this historic vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, its flagship, Napanook, and Othello.
Christian Moueix chose the name ‘Dominus’ (‘lord of the estate’ in Latin) to underscore his longstanding commitment to the land. Rooted in values of quality, stewardship, tradition and innovation, the Dominus Estate team shares a vision of producing distinctive wines that are expressive of this singular terroir.
