Dominio de Atauta is a red wine from the Spanish wine region Ribera del Duero. The wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.
The wine has an intense cherry red color. The nose reveals aromas of ripe fruit such as blackberries, black cherries and plums. There are also hints of oak, such as vanilla and toast.
In the mouth the wine is full and powerful, with a good balance between fruit and tannins. The flavors of ripe fruit are dominant, with a light touch of spice. The aftertaste is long and pleasant.
This wine is produced from a selection of vineyards on the slopes of the Atauta Valley. The soils here are varied: lime sand, normal sand, clay and river rocks can be found here. Yet all Dominio de Atauta wines have one thing in common: they grow on solid soil of calcareous rock. The grapes are harvested by hand. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was aged in wood for 16 months (40% new French oak, 60% used French oak).
