Domaine Thillardon Chénas Chassignol is more than a red wine; it is a harmony of elegance and power, cultivated in the vineyards of Beaujolais, France. Deep ruby red with garnet reflections fills your glass, while enchanting aromas assault your nose.
A complex blend of black cherries, raspberries and plums fills the air, mixed with seductive notes of candied fruit, violets and pepper. The maturation in oak barrels adds hints of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg, creating depth and finesse.
A sip of the Chénas Chassignol reveals the true nature of this wine. The wine is powerful and structured, with firm tannins that testify to patience and craftsmanship. At the same time, fresh acidity and a mineral structure provide balance and elegance. Ripe fruit notes, combined with hints of rose petals, leather and tobacco, complement the wine's complex texture. The aftertaste is long and persistent, with a subtle minerality that slowly gives away.
Chassignol is the most beautiful terroir of the domain, the soil consists of granite, rock and quartz. The vines are on one of the most beautiful slopes of Chénas on the edge of the rock. This wine is compact, intense, deep and complex.
This wine is indispensable for culinary delights. Think of game dishes, grilled red meat, stews with mushrooms or wild boar, or mature cheeses. The finesse and strength of the Chénas Chassignol also fit perfectly with complex vegetarian dishes with truffles or mushrooms.
Thillardon Chénas Chassignol is a delicious red French Beaujolais Chénas wine from Domaine Thillardon from France. This wine is made from Gamay grapes.
Recommended serving temperature between 14°C and 16°C.
Paul Henri Thillardon makes Beaujolais wines of the upper category. Although he represents the youngest generation in this region, he already belongs to the top of this area. The winery is located in Chénas, where the lion's share of its twelve-hectare area is located. He also has a vineyard in neighboring Moulin-à-Vent.
Domaine Thillardon works biodynamically, everything is purely natural, except for the use of minute doses of SO2 during and after fermentation (maximum 15/20 mg per litre). He justifies the latter as follows: 'We love natural wine, but especially clean natural wine.' His wines continue to amaze, with always perfectly ripe red fruit, cartloads of juice and an exemplary balance between matter, freshness and tannin. The energy in these wines is also impressive, and ensures pure drinking pleasure!
