Rivesaltes Ambre 12 Ans d'Age has the scent of walnuts and plums. These aromas can also be found in the mouth in combination with perfumes of cognac, armagnac and cedar wood. A well balanced wine, very aromatic and very nice length.
It was at the end of the 13th century that Arnau de Vilanova, doctor to the kings of Majorca, invented mutage. This process, which would revolutionize the world of wine, consists of the addition of neutral alcohol into a wine during fermentation. The yeasts are then blocked and the wine keeps the natural sweetness in the grapes. A long and slow aging in oak barrels completes the winemaker's work. This Rivesaltes was obtained after direct pressing of Macabeu, Grenache Blanc and Gris and then matured for 12 years in oak barrels.
