Domaine des Hauts Châssis Saint-Joseph .....? has a deep ruby red color with mahogany hues. The fragrance is full-bodied, with the bouquet of fermented fruit surrounded by spicy and camphor notes in a medley of dried flowers, eucalyptus, pepper and cocoa, leather, plum and cooked grapes. The harmonious palette has a mineral tone combined with an almost crunchy texture in contact with oxygen.
The Saint-Joseph vineyards are located on the western bank of the Rhone River. Since ancient times, the vineyards have been planted on steep slopes in the form of terraces. The appellation is known for its red wines made from Syrah grapes. The wine is both powerful and delicate, expressing aromas of pepper and spice, often with a hint of violet mixed with more mineral notes. The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted directly at the vineyard.
Half of the wine is aged in 300 liter and 400 liter barrels from 1 to 3 years old for 12 months.
A delicious wine with ossobucco, Cotes-du-Boeuf, stew and Oriental pork belly.
Domaine des Hauts Châssis Saint-Joseph .....? is a delicious red wine from the Rhone region of France. This wine is made from 100% Syrah grapes by Domaine des Hauts Chassis.
Recommended wine temperature between 15°C and 17°C.
Domaine des Hauts Châssis is located in the heart of the place called Les Hauts Châssis in the south of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Franck Faugier took over the daily management of this beautiful family domain in 2003. Until then, fruit was grown, apricots, cherries and peaches, in addition to wine grapes. The fruit orchards have now been sold and only vines are grown on the 17 hectares. Franck breaks with the practice of selling grapes and wine to the Cave Cooperative and starts to bottle his, now organic, beautiful wines.
The vineyards are located on different plots in Northern Rhône. Of which 14 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage red and 1 hectare in white, 1.5 hectares in Saint-Joseph and 0.5 hectares in Saint-Péray.
In order to process the fruit perfectly, the domain currently has 22 smaller stainless steel tanks in the modern barrel room. For the final maturation in oak, there are classic barriques of 225 liters, barrels of 400 liters and demi muids of 600 liters. Only a small part of the barrels are completely new. In terms of style, all wines are point-pure and characteristic of, especially the Syrah, from this part of France. Since 2017, all wines of the domain are certified organic.
