Domaine de Mauperthuis Chablis Amphore is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, a grape variety that has made Burgundy world famous for white wines.
A special, so-called "orange" wine, made according to methods that go back to ancient times. The hand-harvested grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed and then fermented (with wild yeast) in an amphora of red Tuscan clay. The skins remain in contact with the young wine for 12 months, after which the pulp is pressed in a vertical hand press. Then the wine is bottled without fining or filtering.
This Chablis has a deep golden yellow color with a pink sparkle. In the scent apricot jam and mango, touch of iodine, pepper, roses and acacia. Round on the palate, aromas of orange, tannin structure and a long, mineral finish.
Delicious as an aperitif or in combination with fish dishes, white meat dishes or poultry in a cream or beurre blanc sauce.

The Domaine de Mauperthuis extends over forty hectares of vineyards around Chablis. They adhere to smaller yields, use natural yeasts for fermentation, treat their grapes with great care and are very moderate with the use of sulfites. All this to reinforce their philosophy of 'working with respect for the terroir and the environment'.
Marie-Noëlle & Laurent Ternynck have been making impressive wines for 20 years at their small Domaine de Mauperthuis, which is located 8 km south of Chablis. They recently also purchased vineyards in Chablis, Domaine des Marronniers to complete the range of appellations from this region with wines from Chablis.
