Montée de Tonnerre Blanchot consists of medium to steep slopes facing west. Here the sun comes in at noon and the grapes have no trouble ripening, especially since they are protected from the east wind. The shallow soils rest on Kimmeridgian marl limestone and allow veins of blue clay to spring up, giving the wines minerality and energy.
Montée de Tonnerre is the flagship of the region with an area of about 42.5 hectares, made up of Chapelot, Côte de Bréchain, Pied d'Aloup and itself.
