Château Potensac
Château Potensac is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. The sticks are planted on a soil of loam and pebbles, the substrate contains lime, comparable to the substrate in Saint-Estèphe. The Grand Vin comes from the oldest vines in the winery, some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines are over 80 years old.
The wine has a very dark purple color, with aromas of herbs, a little liquorice, black fruit in the nose and some notes of fig and tobacco in the background. In the mouth the wine is powerful, round and generous. The tannins are present but not hard, almost silky smooth. The ripe complex fruit repeats itself again in the aftertaste.

Château Potensac
Located in the northern part of the Médoc, Château Potensac was the only Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel within the appellation until this classification was abolished in 2007. The winery has long been owned by the Delon family, who also own Château Léoville Las Cases in St. Julien and Château Nénin in Pomerol.
The domain includes 53 hectares of vineyards and due to various expansions in the past, the chapel in the small town of Potensac belongs to the wine estate.
The 2nd wine of Château Potensac, La Chapelle de Potensac, owes its name to this.
