Champagne Leclerc Briant Réserve Brut Millésime has a clear, fluid, pale yellow color with flashes of brilliant yellow-green and a lively flow of small bubbles that create a lingering ring of mousse: all to suggest a fresh and nuanced wine.
The first aromas on the nose are delicate: fruity notes of pear, peach, quince and lime plus slightly spicy hints of star anise mixed with acacia and honeysuckle, all accompanied by an invigorating scent of iodine. As the wine breathes, it reveals the heavier aromas of fresh hazelnuts, bergamot oranges, blackberries, figs, wild strawberries and amarena cherries, accentuated by traces reminiscent of celery leaves and Sichuan pepper.
In the mouth, the attack is clean and fresh with a soft, creamy effervescence. The result is a velvety, chewy texture, supported by the zest of citrus fruits and the substance of other meat fruits. The center of the palate is orchestrated around a clay and chalk minerality that intensifies the fruitiness, gives an almost palpable breadth and gives the finish its length and saltiness. The dosage has been carefully calibrated to bring out the perfect balance between the wine's ripeness and its remarkable menthol and peppery freshness. The silky finish caresses the back of the palate, leaving a lingering and appetizing feeling of chalkiness.
Delicious as an aperitif or with lobster, scallops, oysters, white fish and pork.

Founded in the village of Cumières in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc, the company moved in 1955 to the premises it still occupies today in Chemin de la Chaude Ruelle in Epernay. It was also during this time, thanks to the dynamism of Bertrand Leclerc, the founder's great-grandson, and of his wife Jacqueline Briant, that the estate-based business changed its status to that of a Maison de Negoce or trading house.
In 2012, after the death of Pascal Leclerc, the house Leclerc Briant was saved from obscurity when it was taken over by Mark Nunelly and Denise Dupré. This American couple loves the French 'art de vivre'. The couple instantly fell in love with Leclerc Briant's maverick character. They are joined by Frédéric Zeimett, born in Champagne, who has been driving the house to the highest standards ever since. Previously, Frédéric gained experience at Moët & Chandon and became acquainted with biodynamics at Michel Chapoutier in the Rhône.
New Leclerc Briant owner Denise Dupré immediately set to work with the purchase of 14 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards. All are certified organic and are cultivated biodynamically.
All Champagnes also have the vegan quality mark. They specialize in the production of 'single vineyard' Champagnes, always with a vintage.
