Champagne Leclerc Briant Premier Cru Extra Brut has a shimmering straw yellow color with sparkles and flashes of lighter yellow. A lively stream of tiny bubbles creates a lingering ring of mousse at the top of the glass. All the characteristics of this wine are both rich and fresh.
The nose opens with notes of patisserie, brioche, butter, toasted hazelnuts and honey with the intoxicating scent of honeysuckle, rose, lime and hawthorn. After airing the wine, it reveals notes of umami and a more fruity character: warm apples, fresh blackcurrants, cherry, pomegranate, wild strawberries, citrus and hints of licorice, green tea and peppermint.
On the palate the first impression is clean and fresh with a soft, creamy mousse. The wine quickly develops a full, crunchy fruitiness, supported by the acidity of lemons and pomelo. The middle palette is full around a minerality of clay and chalky soil that gives breadth, structure and a distinct hint of salt before the finish. This palpable balance is mingled with an overall impression of freshness and aromatic precision that enhances the rich, accessible pleasure and underlines the smooth, flavoursome character of the finish.
Delicious as an aperitif or with lobster, scallops, oysters, white fish and pork.

Founded in the village of Cumières in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc, the company moved in 1955 to the premises it still occupies today in Chemin de la Chaude Ruelle in Epernay. It was also during this time, thanks to the dynamism of Bertrand Leclerc, the founder's great-grandson, and of his wife Jacqueline Briant, that the estate-based business changed its status to that of a Maison de Negoce or trading house.
In 2012, after the death of Pascal Leclerc, the house Leclerc Briant was saved from obscurity when it was taken over by Mark Nunelly and Denise Dupré. This American couple loves the French 'art de vivre'. The couple instantly fell in love with Leclerc Briant's maverick character. They are joined by Frédéric Zeimett, born in Champagne, who has been driving the house to the highest standards ever since. Previously, Frédéric gained experience at Moët & Chandon and became acquainted with biodynamics at Michel Chapoutier in the Rhône.
New Leclerc Briant owner Denise Dupré immediately set to work with the purchase of 14 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards. All are certified organic and are cultivated biodynamically.
All Champagnes also have the vegan quality mark. They specialize in the production of 'single vineyard' Champagnes, always with a vintage.
