Boekenhoutskloof Syrah

Boekenhoutskloof Syrah is an exquisite South African red wine that expresses the power, complexity and expression of the Syrah grape variety. This wine is produced by Boekenhoutskloof, a renowned winery located in the beautiful Franschhoek region, known for its rich wine history and exceptional terroir.

When poured, Boekenhoutskloof Syrah reveals a deep, dark purple color that appears almost opaque, suggesting immense concentration and depth. The aroma is intense and inviting, with a bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries, violets and a hint of black pepper. Behind it are notes of cocoa, vanilla and a subtle spiciness, giving the wine an intriguing complexity.

At the first sip, Boekenhoutskloof Syrah enchants your taste buds with its lush and velvety texture. The wine has a full body and a powerful structure, with ripe tannins that are beautifully integrated with the depth of the fruit. The palette is enriched with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate and a hint of clove, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Wine - Food pairing

Boekenhoutskloof Syrah is an excellent choice to combine with grilled red meat, game stews or strong cheeses. This wine is also a wonderful companion for an evening by the fireplace, where it can reveal its deep and complex flavors. Boekenhoutskloof

Boekenhoutskloof Wine Estate is a renowned winery located in the Franschhoek Valley of South Africa. The estate is known for its exceptional quality wines and is considered one of the leading wine producers in the country. Boekenhoutskloof, despite its somewhat unusual African name for the 'French' Franschhoek, was founded three centuries ago by French Huguenots.

The winery was founded in 1776 and is located on a historic estate called Boekenhoutskloof, hence the name of the winery. The estate includes vineyards spread across diverse microclimates, contributing to the diversity and complexity of their wines.

Current winemaker Marc Kent also still has a thing for France. He visits at least once a year to gain new inspiration in the northern Rhône, Cornas. At home in Franschhoek he has made a name for himself with great wines such as Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which are among the absolute top in South Africa. But Kent has more strings to his bow. In addition to these showpieces, which are only produced in small quantities, he also makes extremely attractive wines under the names Porcupine Ridge and The Wolftrap that are available to a wider audience. At a slightly higher level, this certainly includes The Chocolate Block.
