Bernardus Sauvignon Blanc is a highly acclaimed white wine produced by Bernardus Winery in California's Carmel Valley AVA. The wine is known for its fresh and complex character, with classic Sauvignon Blanc characteristics combined with unique elements derived from the Californian terroir.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this wine come from Griva Vineyard in Arroyo Seco AVA, and Michael Griva, vineyard manager of Griva Vineyard, has planted a special block here for Bernardus with the famous 'Musqué' clone of Sauvignon Blanc. Sauvignon Blanc 'Musqué', which is a French word for 'very aromatic', is recognized as the most expressive clone of Sauvignon Blanc. With its perfect combination of sandy, well-drained soils and a warm, breezy climate, the vineyard has proven to be the ideal place to grow Sauvignon Blanc. Bernardus also adds Semillon, from the Griva Vineyard, to add richness and complexity to this excellent wine.

The grapes are hand-picked at different levels of ripeness to provide a broad palette of flavors and acidity for the final blend. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature and the wine is then aged for several months in large, neutral 30-year-old French oak barrels to encourage the integration of flavors.

Aromas of grapefruit on the nose accentuated by mineral nuances. The beautifully rich flavor exhibits bright, tropical fruit flavors with notes of lime and grapefruit peel. The wine is rich, but perfectly balanced with a crisp, refreshing acidity.
