Bernardus Pinot Noir is appreciated for its elegant and refined style. The winery strives to preserve the unique characteristics of the Pinot Noir grape while allowing the influence of the terroir to speak.

The color is intense and deep red. Clear aromas of red cherries and cranberry on the nose. Pure, intense aromas of red fruit and subtle herbal notes on the palate. A beautiful full taste with round tannins supported by a refreshing aftertaste.

Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinot grapes selected from some of Bernardus' favorite Santa Lucia Highlands vineyards. The highlands have long been a focus for Bernardus due to the phenomenal potential of this amazing region.

The grapes are picked and sorted by hand and then fermented in small, individual batches. Maturation takes place for 8 months in the best French oak barrels, of which 15% are new, older neutral barrels and 30 year old French oak barrels and the juice is blended just before bottling. Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is bottled earlier than Bernardus' other Pinot Noir wines to emphasize the expression of the fruit. This wine is an excellent example of Highland characteristics that make the area one of the world's most prized Pinot Noir growing areas.
