Benoit Girardin Santenay has a dark ruby red color. Intense aromas of raspberries, cherries and black currants mixed with spices and licorice. In the mouth the taste is deep and intense. Firm yet discreet tannins provide a body that is smooth, finely textured and well built. A balanced and complex wine with a nice texture. This wine has a lovely long finish.
Santenay is a wine appellation located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune sub-region in Burgundy, France. The village of Santenay produces both red and white wines, the majority of which are red. Santenay red wines are mainly made from the Pinot Noir grape variety, while the white wines are made from Chardonnay. The reds of Santenay are known for their richness and intensity, with flavors and aromas of dark fruit, such as blackberry and cherry, as well as earthy and spicy notes. Santenay white wines are known for their freshness and minerality, with flavors and aromas of citrus and stone fruits, as well as a subtle nuttiness.
The soils in Santenay are predominantly clay and limestone, which contribute to the minerality and structure of the wines produced there. Santenay's wines are generally considered to be medium to full-bodied and well-structured, with a good balance between acidity and tannins.
This wine is delicious as an aperitif or with slowly cooked dishes such as braised veal or beef, poultry and cheeses such as Brie de Meaux, Pont-l'Evêque, Cîteaux, Reblochon and Bleu de Bresse.

Benoit Girardin is a young winegrower from Burgundy. Generation after generation, the Girardin domain was passed down until Benoit took over 8 hectares of this historic domain in 2020 and has now fulfilled his wish to make his own wine. Before that time, Benoit not only gained experience in the family domain, but also trained as a wine oenologist in Beaune.
Girardin wines are synonymous with elegant, charming and honest wines that taste like where they come from. The vineyards include appellations such as Santenay, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Chassagne Montrachet and Pommard, which are planted with old vines.
Benoit's philosophy is clear, he wants to make top quality wines that are produced as naturally as possible with a focus on the hard work in the field and as little interference as possible in the vinification.
