Benoit Girardin Pommard

Benoit Girardin Pommard has a deep dark red color. The aromas are reminiscent of raspberries, blackberries, pepper and ripe red berries. The taste is medium-bodied with a nice acidity, elegant tannins and a nice velvety aftertaste.

Pommard is a wine appellation in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy, France. Pommard is known for producing some of the strongest and most robust red wines in Burgundy, made primarily from the Pinot Noir grape variety. Pommard wines are known for their deep, intense and complex flavours, with notes of dark fruit, such as blackberries and black cherries, as well as earthy and spicy notes. The tannins in Pommard wines are typically firm and structured, giving the wines a long finish and allowing them to age well.

The soils in Pommard are predominantly clay and limestone, which contribute to the minerality and structure of the wines produced there. Pommard wines can vary in style depending on the specific vineyard and winemaking practices, but they are generally considered full-bodied, bold, and complex.

Benoit Girardin

Benoit Girardin is a young winegrower from Burgundy. Generation after generation, the Girardin domain was passed down until Benoit took over 8 hectares of this historic domain in 2020 and has now fulfilled his wish to make his own wine. Before that time, Benoit not only gained experience in the family domain, but also trained as a wine oenologist in Beaune.

Girardin wines are synonymous with elegant, charming and honest wines that taste like where they come from. The vineyards include appellations such as Santenay, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Chassagne Montrachet and Pommard, which are planted with old vines.

Benoit's philosophy is clear, he wants to make top quality wines that are produced as naturally as possible with a focus on the hard work in the field and as little interference as possible in the vinification.
