Barista Pinotage

Barista Pinotage is a red wine that takes its name from the art of coffee brewing, where the winemaker tries to integrate the unique flavors of coffee into the distinctive characteristics of Pinotage. It is a striking and distinct wine from South Africa.

In the glass, Barista Pinotage shows a deep, dark red color with purple hues. The bouquet offers enticing aromas of ripe blackberries, plums and black cherries, along with subtle hints of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. This combination of fruity and toasty aromas gives the wine its unique character.

On the palate, Barista Pinotage presents a full body with soft tannins. The taste is dominated by ripe juicy berries and plums, with notes of dark chocolate and a hint of coffee. The wine has a good balance between fruity sweetness and earthy notes, making for a pleasant drinking experience.

The wine exhibits a striking complexity and playful character, making it a unique and enjoyable experience for wine lovers looking for something different. Barista Pinotage combines the distinctive characteristics of the Pinotage grape with subtly integrated coffee aromas, resulting in a wine that is both surprising and captivating.

Boekenhoutkloof / Barista

Boekenhoutskloof Wine Estate is a renowned winery located in the Franschhoek Valley of South Africa. The estate is known for its exceptional quality wines and is considered one of the most prominent wine producers in the country. Boekenhoutskloof, despite its somewhat unusual African name for the 'French' Franschhoek, was founded three centuries ago by French Huguenots.

The winery was founded in 1776 and is located on a historic estate called Boekenhoutskloof, hence the name of the winery. The estate includes vineyards spread over diverse microclimates, adding to the diversity and complexity of their wines.

The current winemaker Marc Kent also still has something with France. He visits it at least once a year to find new inspiration in the northern Rhône, Cornas. At home in Franschhoek, he has made a name for himself with great wines such as Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which belong to the absolute top of South Africa. But Kent has more strings to his bow. In addition to these showpieces, which are only produced in small quantities, he also makes exceptionally attractive wines under the name Porcupine Ridge and The Wolftrap that are available to a wider audience. At a somewhat higher level, The Chocolate Block certainly belongs here.
